What is AuctioneerDB?
AuctioneerDB is a standalone companion to the Auctioneer AddOn Suite for World of Warcraft.
There are two components to the AuctioneerDB:
- The AuctioneerDB AddOn, Auc-DB. This AddOn provides pricing information to you within the game (it registers as an Auctioneer Stats module), and collect pricing info for submission back to the AuctioneerDB servers. This AddOn requires you have Auctioneer installed in order to work. The SavedVariables file name your data is saved to is Auc-DB.lua.
- The AuctioneerDB Updater Application, AucDBSync. This is an executable file which you can install and use to automatically sync updated prices to and from our servers. You can also manually copy the data file (DbBase.lua) if you prefer not to use our executable file.
At present, the OSX Sync Client does not function; the AucDB AddOn will function correctly and you can still manually upload data as detailed, below.
AuctioneerDB's Functions
The primary function of the AuctioneerDB Updater Application is to process the saved files generated by the AuctioneerDB AddOn module.
The data is stored locally for your use in spreadsheets, et cetera.
In addition, the AuctioneerDB Updater Application can be used to help aggregate data with other users via the AuctioneerDB Web server. Simply use the "import" function to process your data files and upload your data to the Web server. The data from the Web server is aggregated each Sunday and is then made available to all users of the AuctioneerDB application. The aggregated data can be downloaded to the AuctioneerDB AddOn module, which will make the data available as an additional Market Price input within the Auctioneer AddOn.
The AuctioneerDB AddOn can also be used as your primary pricing means within Auctioneer. Simply choose AucDB as the primary pricing statistic from within the options.
Where to find AuctioneerDB
Download and run the appropriate installation program from the AuctioneerDB Site. There are AuctioneerDB Updater Applications for Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux.
You will also require the Auctioneer Suite, available from Auctioneer Suite.
How to Use it
First download and install AuctioneerDB and Auctioneer Suite.
Once installed, run the AuctioneerDB application. Click the Configure tab and locate you World of Warcraft folder. It will then prompt you to install the AuctioneerDB AddOn. This is required as it is the module that processes your Auctioneer scan data for use with AuctioneerDB. If the update does not prompt you to install, or there are issues, simply obtain the AuctioneerDB AddOn from http://zip.norganna.org/auctioneer/Auc-Db/ .
Download and install the most recent AuctioneerDB Base Data / Statistics Files.
Open World of Warcraft and scan the Auction House as usual, make your bids, purchase items outright, et al.
When complete, exit World of Warcraft and click the "Import" button from the AuctioneerDB Updater window. The data you scanned will be automatically processed, stored, and uploaded to the AuctioneerDB Web server, all depending upon your configured options.
Note that you can manually upload the file generated by the AuctioneerDB AddOn. For instructions, see the AuctioneerDB Contribute page.
Current AuctioneerDB Updater Options
- Welcome
- Pretty self explanatory, it's a welcome screen with some basic instructions.
- Configure
- All options are explained in the application itself.
- note: "Download auction data from AuctioneerDb.com" option is currently still under development
- note: your client ID: is currently not in use for other than testing purposes as "AuctioneerDB.com accounts" are not currently available.
- Log Files
- Allows you to review exactly what is happening behind the scenes.
- Most useful if there are issues to report errors, help troubleshoot, et cetera.
- Import
- Clicking this will import all new Scan Data into AuctioneerDB and will upload the new data to the AuctioneerDB Web server, if you have selected that option in the Configure Menu.
- Update

Other Information
Accounts
"Free" and "Pay for Premium" Accounts will be available enabling clients to download the combined database for local browsing as well as use within the Auctioneer AddOn. note: Currently accounts are not available for creation or use.
- Quote from Norganna: - This is not a promise and is subject to change without warning.
- Paid subscription is more of a "I want to support the project" thing, however it does give you certain "benefits" that aren't available to other users, things like advanced searches against the back end data (eg: seller search, etc), daily data downloads and daily trend data from the website, SMS alerts. Nice things that if everyone had it, would make the site grind to a halt. The pricing point on this is expected to be as low as I can make it, currently I'm thinking of <$2/month range.
- Non premium (free) members will get weekly downloads, and be able to see weekly summary data/trend graphs on the website, perform basic parametrized searches etc, see realm/faction specific data. In order to gain membership (both free and premium) you will have to agree to a non-distribution TOU. You are free to distribute your own personally collected data, and the supplied non-members data however you see fit, but not the members-only data)
- Non-members (ie freeloaders, search engines, etc) will see basic data without trends, only basic item name searches and possibly no realm-specific data. They will be able to download the latest AucDB data file (see below) from the site and use/distribute it however they see fit.
Database
- The shared database will be a combination of all users who submit data. It will be available globally as well as collated by:
- Server
- Faction
- Buyout Price
- Min Bid Price
- Placed Bid Price
- Purchased Price
